Schedule and Attend a US Visa Interview

Scheduling the US Visa Interview:

  1. Find the U.S. Embassy/Consulate:
    • Identify the U.S. Embassy or Consulate where you will be applying for your visa. You can find a list of U.S. Embassies and Consulates here.
  2. Pay the Visa Application Fee:
    • Pay the non-refundable visa application fee, which is typically around $160 for an F1 visa. Check the specific instructions on the embassy or consulate’s website for payment methods.
  3. Schedule the Interview:
    • Go to the U.S. Visa Information and Appointment Services website and create an account.
    • Complete the required fields, including your DS-160 confirmation number and payment receipt number.
    • Schedule your interview appointment by selecting an available date and time at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
  4. Gather Required Documents:
    • Ensure you have all the necessary documents for your interview. This includes:
      • DS-160 Confirmation Page
      • Visa Application Fee Receipt
      • Form I-20
      • Passport (valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay in the U.S.)
      • Passport-sized photo (following U.S. visa photo requirements)
      • SEVIS I-901 Fee Receipt
      • Financial documents showing proof of funds
      • Any additional documents specified by the embassy or consulate

Attending the Visa Interview:

  1. Arrive Early:
