Paying the SEVIS Fee

The SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) I-901 fee is a required payment for all F1 visa applicants. Here’s a breakdown of how to handle it:

Steps to Pay the SEVIS Fee:

  1. Get Your Form I-20: Before you can pay the SEVIS fee, you need to have your Form I-20 from your SEVP-certified school. This form includes the SEVIS ID number that you’ll need for the payment.
  2. Go to the SEVIS I-901 Fee Website: Visit the official SEVIS I-901 Fee processing website at FMJfee.com.
  3. Fill Out the Form:
    • Enter your SEVIS ID number, which is located on the top right corner of your Form I-20.
    • Provide your personal information exactly as it appears on your Form I-20.
    • Indicate the school you will be attending.
  4. Choose Payment Method: You can pay the SEVIS fee using a credit or debit card, or through other accepted payment methods such as Western Union Quick Pay. Choose the method that is most convenient for you.
  5. Submit Payment: Complete the payment process. Ensure all the information is correct before submitting.
  6. Print the Confirmation: After the payment is successfully processed, a confirmation page will be displayed. Print at least two copies of this confirmation. You will need one for your visa interview and another when you enter the United States.

Important Tips:

  • Timing: Pay the SEVIS fee at least three days before your visa interview to ensure that the payment is processed in time.
  • Receipt: Keep the receipt safe and accessible. You will need to present it during your visa interview and possibly when entering the U.S.
  • Verification: Double-check that your payment went through successfully and that the information on the confirmation matches your Form I-20 details.
